mcc (mcc@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 27-Aug-2024 11:29:20 JST mcc @jalcine For many years searching Google for my legal name returned my Twitter account, which did not have my legal name on it and which I was careful not to link from any page I hosted linked to my legal name. I *might* have actually said my legal name in a tweet once. But I feel p. sure Google has for a long time been able to attach search results to things based only on third parties linking the page with that phrase, even if the phrase isn't present.
Wouldn't surprise me if DDG did similar.
