     @newt @kaia if you say so. its somewhere between a wendy's loudspeaker and a helicopter PA.
     
     a neural DSP, probably. or if the call is 8khz (which it basically is on radios which is where they use these.)
     
     they're ok as noise gates though. if you join a lav and throat mic in to a single stereo channel then have a filter gate the lav to the throat, then you get the good audio from the lav but the more accurate speech trigger from the throat mic.

     @icedquinn @kaia this could be fixed with a few filters bolted on.
