I suspect I have mild prosopagnosia, and am also terrible at remembering names. And yes, so many embarrassments! It’s especially painful because I really want people to feel seen and valued, and nothing makes a person feel unseen and unvalued like being unrecognized or having their name forgotten.

Flip side: I’ve taken to laying this all out on the table for my students right at the start of the semester, and I think seeing me publicly flounder with something and laugh at my own ineptitude helps set them at ease about their own struggles.
