   Hey look here is $ 7 trillion for the global climate fund:

   "The report by the International Monetary Fund (#IMF) found explicit #subsidies alone have more than doubled since the previous IMF assessment, rising from $500 billion in 2020 to $1.3 trillion in 2022.

   IMF also calculates implicit #FossilFuelSubsidies, which include the cost of things such as undercharging for #EnvironmentalCosts. Adding those in and the total subsidies ballooned to $7 trillion in 2022."

     "Funds required for loss and damage are expected to reach $671bn annually by 2030, according to calculations by the Loss and Damage Collaboration. Current funding stands at less than $500m annually."

     But do let's keep shoving $ 1.3 tn of #subsidies at #FossilFuel companies every year.
     LossAndDamage is a policy. Its wilful neglect is a policy.

     "Attempts to establish legal obligations for businesses to pay for the impacts of #ClimateChange have been largely unsuccessful.

     The UN Rapporteur’s report on “Climate Justice: #LossAndDamage” pushes for international legal development in this area.

     It is within the remediation pillar that the most noteworthy proposal is found. It calls for businesses and countries with high GHG emissions to pay for the impacts of climate change."

     SEVEN TRILLION dollars in only one year.

     That's 7% of the entire world's GDP.

     This is what I mean by #FossilFuel induced #austerity: we are living it now. We can get away from the austerity: We have a lot to gain by dropping the fossil fuels, dropping the air pollution, dropping the health care costs.

     That's 7% of the entire world's GDP.

     A large part of that money went to the huge profits for the fossil fuel industry.

     That money was paid by all of us.

     Let's get it back.
     Ditch the fossil fuels.
