    What @StillIRise1963 said.

    Keep in mind that because they have nothing to lose from wrecking everyone and everything to win, this election — and the whole fight against fascism — is an asymmetric battle. We have to win this election •three times• over:

    1. At the ballot box
    2. In the courts
    3. On the streets

    …and that’s just the election. https://mastodon.world/@StillIRise1963/113014262749954851

      The nazis and that criminal won’t give up easily. This is the last shot for both of them. They have nothing to lose.

      This is not meant to induce doom or despair. I am ardently, ferociously anti-despair. Despair is surrender. We need to do the opposite of surrender.

      We are the opposite of doomed: we are in a moment of possibility. We really can do this. And to do it, we need to be real about the scope and nature of the work ahead.

      100%. This is all abuser patterns at societal scale, up and down the festering line.

      @inthehands @StillIRise1963
      It's not just that they have everything to lose. It's that they're about to be in the "if I can't have you, no one can have you" stage.

      Anyone who knows anything about domestic violence knows that the most dangerous part of an abusive relationship is when the abused finally leaves

      @ccdudley85
      I don’t trust LE to handle this unsupervised, especially local police, since so many of them are themselves outright fascists. I’m hopeful that we have better security planning this time that we did in 2020, that the people working security are actually vetted, and that we have a population ready to march in the streets in support of democracy if necessary. But truly, I don’t know what to expect or how to handle it.

      @inthehands As on #Jan6, it is law enforcement that needs to deal with their violence. Street brawls play into their hands.

      @StillIRise1963 @donaldball
      It would start with Women’s March style mass protests. General strike would be the next step, I think.

      @inthehands @StillIRise1963 I said it before, I’ll say it again. If this election gets fucky and these courts try to step in, we strike.

      It’s just a drop in the bucket, but if we get to the point of mass protest against a coup attempt, I’m ready to cancel class.

      But first…first we have to win the election.

      I’m retired but I’ll find a picket line or protest to join!
