   Not enough has been said about how, for Republicans like Adam Kinzinger, Liz Cheney, and others, there is literally no career upside to standing against Donald Trump

   There's no upside for Kinzinger speaking at the #DemocraticNationalConvention

   It's not like he's going to become a Democrat. There's no place for him in the Democratic party!

   Hopefully one day there will again be a healthy Republican party. But first there has to be a healthy democracy

     I don't think there can ever again be a healthy Republican Party. The GOP conspired with a foreign enemy to attack the United States, and staged a violent attempt to massacre our elected officials and overthrow our government. There's no coming back from that.

     However, the GOP's war against the US in no way makes the Democrats insurrectionists as well, nor will it ever do so.

     We need a new conservative party for our country to survive, but not to keep the Dems honest.

     A corollary to this is something I said often during the Trump years

     We cannot have healthy democracy with only one healthy party. Before long there’re no healthy parties

     I think of professional cycling. Maybe at the start only Lance Armstrong was doping. But before long, you weren't competitive without a competent doping operation. That became the game

     Democrats need another competent party in order to stay honest and maintain their integrity
