Hmm, wanting to upgrade my PC and home servers to 10gig. It's going to be nice an easy for the servers since I can just grab a 10gig SFP PCIe card for them and run short DAC cable to the network core... but my PC is a little more complex.
SFP PCIe cards are cheap but then do I run fibre to my PC, or do I get some SFP to ethernet adapters and run ethernet instead. But then, do I get a 10gig Ethernet PCIe card or a SFP card?
Soooo many options. So many prices...

Fibre will be SFP end to end, and for about a 20 meter run (allowing slack on each end), it's about £60 just for the cable. An Intel card for my PC too will be about £30-40 so about £100 all in.
Copper on the other hand will be less fragile, and I already have a Cat6 cable going to my PC so that won't need to change. But then I'm looking at around £100 for a PCIe card and I'll still need an SFP to ethernet for the network side which is another £60~ so about £160.
TL;DR:
Fibre: ~£100
Copper: ~£160 -
