There are increasing calls for a reform of taxes on wealth (and specifically housing wealth).
However, at least in a rhetorical sense England already has a land tax.... Stamp duty is officially: 'Stamp Duty Land Tax'.... so the Q. is could reformers aim to change the way Stamp Duty is calculated - on the value of the underlying land of the property, rather than the dwelling & then shift it to an annual levy rather than a sales levy?
Just thinking aloud, really....
