If private lenders had to front this with risk of loss they wouldn't be giving kids majoring in "communications" those kinds of loans. Doctors, nurses, engineers, and I"m not sure what else. But when the States not only fund student loans, but even protect all student loans from Chapter 7 bankruptcy, not only are they printing money, btu they are driving up prices of education.
