Its the Geneva Conventions' 75th anniversary.... but so often they are 'honoured in the breach'.

Marnie Lloydd (VictoriaU/NZ) argues now counties need to:

focus on the collective responsibility of abiding by international law;

stop using technical legal argument to void the sprit of the conventions;

stop accepting arguments about exceptional security threats to justify ignoring the conventions' requirements.

Now more than ever this seems pretty vital!
