   @lamp You can do Ethernet over Coax to send a 1080p stream just fine - but the protocol is always proprietary.

     so it seems there is this thing called "HD over Coax" but I can't find any fucking details about it from any real source. But it's digital it seems, won't work with old systems

     Are coaxial/RF CCTV systems obsolete? As I understand it it isn't possible to get great video quality over analog NTSC, so modern systems use IP over ethernet or Wi-Fi. But I still see "1080p" coaxial systems, is this bullshit or are they using something better than NTSC?
