Ever since the release of the new Harris-Walz logo (wordmark), I’ve been thinking of Shirley Chisholm, because the new logo visually alludes to the font and style Chisholm used when she ran for to be the Democratic nominee for President in 1972. Like much of Chisholm’s materials, Harris-Walz uses all caps on a single color background. 1/
I was seven in 1972, being raised in New Jersey by Brooklyn born parents. They LOVED Shirley Chisholm. Chisholm was absolutely radical for her time, insisting that the Democratic Party open the door to women candidates. Here’s a good brief biography. https://www.womenshistory.org/education-resources/biographies/shirley-chisholm 2/
@heidilifeldman I didn’t know this was the inspiration for the campaign wordmark. Really cool, she clearly has a great team working together. I first heard of Chisholm from my Congresswoman Rep. Lee who represents the district that Kamala Harris is from.
