So Web5 doesn't have blockchain at all, and by extension does not have smart contracts or the ability to do trustless computation. In other words almost worthless and the name is very deceptive.

I am not wedded to blockchain or smart contracts but one of the critical components of web3 decentralization is the ability for applications to execute code trustlessly and this cannot do that.

@tyil I actually abandoned this project already anyway because it doesn't have any blockchain and thus no way to run code trustlessly. it's not better than web3 at all.

@tyil I was hoping their project would be just a drop of blockchain for the small subset of things only that tech can do, rather than some stuff that tries to stick everything on the blockchain, which I agree is wasteful and stupid.

@sun@shitposter.world I like not having blockchains, blockchain "technology" is a meme looking for a problem it can (expensively) solve. But I generally like the web to be a bit more static. Rather than looking for ways to make code more trustworthy, I'd rather just not have random code running at all. The irony is that I'm using #MissKey as my #Fediverse client :^)
