Angry Sun (sun@shitposter.world)'s status on Wednesday, 07-Aug-2024 21:11:50 JST Angry Sun Tried out a graph database that could be a great backend for a Fediverse server but installing via Docker didn't even work. I filed some issues with their Github but honestly it's a bad sign if their last release was in April and it doesn't even work. - Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: likes this.

Ignas Kiela (ignaloidas@not.acu.lt)'s status on Monday, 12-Aug-2024 04:33:34 JST Ignas Kiela @sun@shitposter.world I worked with graph databases roughly a year ago, and they either had shit performance and were in general not good, or were proprietary enough that even with a fair bit of budget it was too much of a hassle to even test them.
In that case we eventually landed to a extremely denormalized elasticsearch schema because our stuff was mostly demanding read-only queries. But I think for a fedi server, the best option would be to basically build your own DB, maybe based on something like RocksDB because fucking hell does everything else available just generally suck.Angry Sun likes this.
