@burnoutqueen @israel @palestine this really hones in on why complaints of "Holocaust inversion" (comparing the Israeli far right to Nazis) really rubs me the wrong way. At what point are we allowed to say, "look, they're telling us they are emulating the Nazi party" without it being called antisemitic? At that point, it's just making criticism of genocide categorically unacceptable if the right group is doing it.
There's never a right group to do that.

@nus there are literally hundreds of examples of ethnic nationalist extreme right regimes to compare Kahanists against. You can compare to Slobodan Milosevic, Nasser, Marie Le Pen. These are all more accurate examples and harder to deflect.

@nus I get it. I think there are also difficult arguments from some right wing Israel apologists who, when confronted with a comparison to the Trail of Tears or the Armenian Genocide, claim that those were necessary steps in nation-building, that the responsible governments have never given apologies or suffered consequences, and that Israel is being held to an unfair standard that other nations have not had to meet. It's a loathsome model of ethnic cleansing, but not without a kernel of truth.

@evan those are all excellent points. I do my best to liken the war crimes of Israel to other well-known incidents that people would be familiar with, like the use of white phosphorus in both Gaza and Ukraine.
I definitely don't want to be off-putting or offensive to anybody that reads my comments in good faith, and to that extent, good rhetoric and optics is definitely important too!
