   @Tourma @dwarmstrong Well that is true for old Kobo readers. The new ones have the ability to borrow from the library directly on the reader.

     @sohkamyung @adamsdesk @Tourma @dwarmstrong The erroneous concept of "borrowing" digital books from a library should not be repeated, as you're merely receiving a copy of a digital file that you could keep forever and share if it wasn't for proprietary sabotage via digital handcuffs.
     
     Other than the wireless card, there is free software for many Kobo e-readers; https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Kobo_Clara_HD_(kobo-clara)
     
     Unfortunately, postmarketOS is a proprietary BusyBox/Linux distro that uses the proprietary version of Linux by default instead of Linux-libre and recommends proprietary software in the package manager.

     That's correct. My Kobo Clara HD can borrow ebooks directly from my local library via Overdrive.
