when people argue "she's trans! she shouldn't be in women's sport!"

it's effectively the same tactic as a schoolyard bully saying "does your mom know you're so pathetic" or similar.

it creates a situation where arguing in either a positive or negative direction about whether someone is trans or not legitimizes the premise.

the correct way to resolve this is to say "trans women belong in women's sport"

just as with the bully, the solution is "i am not pathetic, you are"
