   September 2012 is where we start to take "database devops" seriously.

   Besides us, only Facebook thinks similarly.

   I don't know when RDS started, but it is lame by comparison, "automated database management based on DRBD-like disk cloning in EBS", and later parts are bolted on to deal with replication and similar. And regular downtime windows.

   We have a much more ambitious agenda.

     And added other changes to MySQL, based on our crashes.

     For example, the buffer pool is excluded when crashing.

     And using the crash logs, fixes I_S.

     5.6 advances to beta, while serving our customers, in prod.
