I understand the "weird" strategy actually work but I don’t like the underlying ideology and implications of "weird" being "bad". I’m not a fascist or a conspiracy theorist but I’m certainly not "normal". I’m "weird" and I like to take pride in it. What’s that gonna look like when it successfully and irrevocably being associated with republicans (misogynists, fascists, eugenicists, white supremacists?), what will "keep furry weird" look like?
I’m not normal and I’m never going to be so I’d rather be my weird self. But I don’t want to be in the same bag as them.
It’s like they actually listened to the advice of "don’t call your political adversaries racists" and decided to call them sexual deviants instead. But you know, many people still consider queer people that.
