simsa04 (simsa04@gnusocial.net)'s status on Tuesday, 08-Nov-2022 07:37:01 JST simsa04 I have to cut back myself again after I spend a lot of money for a 10 vols. dictionary... Inflation is not that high here, about 10% and it's a topic for people, media, politics. Fears of a repition of early 20th century may be behind that. More problematic I find that high inflation and energy prices eats at the solidarity with Ukraine and lead to more protests on the streets, even one's calling for end of sanctions against Russia. -

es0mhi@tilde.zone's status on Tuesday, 08-Nov-2022 07:37:02 JST es0mhi I was grocery shopping at the supermarket on Thursday and again today: once again the prices for most products have gone up significantly. This happens every few days by now.
Inflation in Estonia was 25.2% in August, 24.2% in September and 22.4% in October. The amazing thing is that consumption has not decreased so far. I mean, how do people do that? We have - after a short period of inertia - drastically cut back. (And even before we were spending little).
Sure, in Estonia nobody sees the need to save: "Money comes, money goes," is the mantra. I don't know anyone who has savings, they all have loans and leases.
