The insane history of Dr. Kellogg and his war against masturbation and human 'deviancy' is one the most succinctly American forms of batshit lunatic normalcy I've ever stumbled across.

This fuckless nutless madman could be the poster child for the 1900-1920's "Progressive Movement' - and think of him every time I see bizarre ideas like anti-vaxers, raw water or sun bleaching; I imagine some ghost of the doctor nodding and mumbling about how it's all about 'proper healthful practices'.
