In the year 2040, USB-C has won the world over. Houses only have USB-C outlets. Appliances that need AC have to convert it from DC. Electric cars also use USB-C. Trains also get electricity from USB-C using 24 overhead wires (one for each pin of the connector). The implementation of USB-PD (fast charging) has solved the issue of differing rail power standards across Europe.
