     Ok, so if you're an atheist, what oath do you take instead of swearing on a bible? Apparently you make a promissory affirmation, and there's a few new ministers doing just that. Ooh, and there's our mate Michelle, the GG's aide-de-camp who we met recently... she was a bit if a hoot. #auspol

     so would I
     As much as I like we have a constitution
     I don't think it allows for atheists at all
     Maybe just say the oath and end before the religious bit?

     Which is why it needs to be updated to take into account all the other nonexistent gods as well as realist and atheists
     LOL
     and that sadly is not a joke

     or maybe ban religion from being mentioned in any way in government

     and write a new constitution that says so or No

     @Rory29 @bmacDonald94 Yep. But there's an affirmation for atheists. I'd still like to know what other texts are acceptable, religious or otherwise.

     Our constitution has an
     Oath

     I, A.B., do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Her heirs and successors according to law. SO HELP ME GOD!

     as if that counts today
     Victoria was 2 monarchists ago
     and it wasn't updated the last time they changed a part of it

     The spell check says there should be a comma after ME in the all Caps religious bit/bullshit

     As I was born atheist
     I take anything religious is just added to annoy me

     The fact that spell check says it is missing a comma after me?

     Makes it say "me" is god and asks the god "me" to help?
     LOL

     It is all a very sad joke
     the politicians don't obey it
     and only enforce it on those they oppose

     It needs to be updated to conform with reality as we know it?
