@dioux70 The only people you reach on X are the ones Elon’s algorithms allow you to reach. He owns the speakers, he owns the mixer, and he owns the microphones and he can adjust the volume or turn them off at his whim.

@LALegault Yes, there are all sorts of people on the web/the world. Mastodon is just one fediverse app and the fediverse is thousands upon thousands of different houses. If the fediverse has a racism problem, it’s because the world has a racism problem (it does). The difference is that X is one Nazi bar, run by a Nazi, where you have to use the Nazi’s microphones to talk and he owns and controls the microphones, the mixer, and the whole damn sound system.

Bad take dude. Mastodon may be better on trans issues but the racism and misogyny is unbelievable. We have no moral high ground. All weekend I have seen posts from black women detailing the abuse they are getting.
Until governments and emergency services leave X asking people not to participate seems a little misplaced.
And until we get our own house in order, I am not sure we’re in a position to judge.

@LALegault That’s mastodon.social, one server among thousands. It’s his kingdom, just like X is Elon’s kingdom. But, yes, mastodon.social vs X is more of an apples to apples comparison technically speaking. And yet, thank goodness we have many other options, up to and including running your own instance where you make all the rules (without being able to compel anyone to listen to you, or course, as other servers can ban yours, which is as it should be) :)
