The other day, I briefly talked about why I don't like JD Vance, why his purported appeal to "the working class" was mostly a bougie myth, and why I thought that every time he opened his mouth he was actively doing damage to the Trump campaign's prospects of winning the election; a fact that I certainly am not too broke up about.
Well it turns out that the new American Nazi Party is becoming increasingly aware of these facts:

Polls Show Vance Is Deeply Unpopular — Could the RNC Remove Him From the Ticket?
"Vance has, in fact, become something of a liability for Trump. Aggregate polling data collected by CNN’s senior political data reporter Harry Enten noted that Vance has a net favorability rating of -6 points. That number is the lowest of any vice presidential nominee for either major party since 1980, and the first time such a nominee has been in the net-negative range in the week after their party’s national convention. (Vice presidential nominees have seen, on average, a +19 net favorability rating in the days after their conventions were held.)"
I think ultimately there are three issues play here. First is the fact that tactically, choosing Vance was a "win more" strategy for the Trump campaign looking to feed some red meat to already loyal fascist voters during the RNC - aka "the most publicized Nazi rally since the production of Triumph of the Will." He doesn't bring anything to the ticket; he's not experienced, he hasn't cultivated his own base of support - in fact despite winning an Ohio Senate seat on the back of tech-fascist Peter Thiel's generous funding, the vast majority of polls indicate that Vance ran worse than a bog standard Republican would have in a deep red state like Ohio. The guy has no juice, choosing him was about appeasing the rich Techbro fascists working to get Trump over (see Thiel) and the choice literally represents a victory lap for a Trump campaign pretty sure they'd already beat Joe Biden and captured the White House. Given the changing dynamics of the election now that Harris is the presumed Dem presidential nominee, this sure looks like a massive tactical blunder.
The second problem having Vance on the ticket presents for team Trump, is that the guy is a wholly unlikeable shitheel. Even setting aside the fact that his political ideas are weird, authoritarian, and hugely unpopular, the man himself has all the charm of the class know it all who fancies himself the schoolyard bully; a rare, but deeply unlikeable combination that might play (kinda) in Ohio, but doesn't work on the national stage. He's obnoxious, oozes arrogance, has no idea that his forcefully stated opinions about childless women aren't representative of modern attitudes in the electorate, and is just in general a loathsome blowhard whose political style is more suited to winning "debates" on 4Chan than convincing people to vote for the Trump ticket. I wasn't aware it was actually possible for a politician to be "Josh Hawley without the polish and charm" given how little of those qualities Hawley himself posses, but that's who Vance is and what people see every time he opens his mouth.
Finally of course, there's the fact that Vance works for Techbro fascists like Peter Thiel, to advance Tech-authoritarian political policies championed by odious nazi shitheads like Curtis Yarvin, aka Mencius Moldbug. Right now, voters don't know much about Yarvin's ideas (or Thiel and Vance's support for them) but putting Vance on the ticket is going to give them an opportunity to find out, and I can assure you that corporate feudalism, bringing back slavery, and turning marginalized people into biodiesel fuel are *not* going to sell well with the vast majority of voters who didn't already support Trump before Vance's selection. Furthermore, Vance himself lacks the cunning to keep his support for this kind of dystopian fascist nightmare shit hidden until the election; just the other day I shared a video of him espousing his pro-natalist theories on rigging democracy for fundies who spit out a lotta babies by giving parents extra votes for each child they have. This man doesn't know when to shut up, and might be completely incapable of doing so.
All of which brings us to the question of whether or not Trump can replace him. The short answer is no, but the long answer is yes, they can get Vance off the ticket by convincing him, or forcing him to step down. Will they? I have my doubts; not only will that decision be very unpopular with both Trump's Techbro masters and the hardcore nazis in his base, but doing so would require Downmarket Mussolini to admit he'd made a mistake - which is something Trump simply doesn't do.
In other words, choosing Vance is like tying a stone around Trump's neck, and now it's up to the Harris campaign and "liberal" media to make sure they both sink to the bottom because of it.
