I **really** need a VPS with more storage and RAM that is not Hetzner or netcup, but still has a reasonable/similar pricing and is inside the EU/EEA (this seems so impossible)
- I currently have the Hetzner CAX11 with 2 ARM cores, 4GB RAM and 40GB Storage for 3,92€/month
(And I would like to at least double all the specs and maybe even triple the storage...)

as for selfhosting, that depends on what you want to host and how many users you want to host. a small instance is usually not that big of a deal on your connection. idk about the proxy thing since i never used something like it

@puniko is there any hope to find a hoster in switzerland or are they all (as expected) "expensive"? Or do you know some other hosters?
And do you think it is a somewhat great idea to look at selfhosting? I mean my speeds would be significantly slower and stuff... Through what would you proxy to not reveal my real IP? (This is my absolute last resort)

@MagicLike@mstdn.social i don't host at home. my server is sitting at the colocation of the company i work in. soooo i can't really help you there.
but in general, yes, i would assume some dyn dns stuff needs to be done if you don't have a static ip

@puniko well I would be the only user (I want to scale up my Mastodon instance so I can finally move my main account there, which would require more RAM and storage)...
So you are just dyndnsing to your rral io for your selfhosted stuff? Or are you using something else to mask it?
