@jeridansky They sent me a questionnaire about various scenarios designed to gauge whether I would book with them or another airline, but all the scenarios had only assigned seating options. So it was clear to me they were definitely going to do this. At the end of the survey they had an open-ended question for suggestions. I told them that if they went to assigned seating, they remove one of the two reasons I used Southwest almost exclusively (the other being no baggage fees for the first two bags). I love the open seating, primarily because boarding is so much more orderly than other systems.

Being Covid-cautious, I don't fly much at all any more — and various problems at Southwest in recent years meant I wasn't inclined to fly with them anymore, anyway. But I may be one of the few people who liked their open seating.
