"[Drew] manipulates facts to fit his argument"
"[Drew] calls a project more popular than his, a dark web underground who-even-knows-this"

    Fact check

    https://pkgstats.archlinux.de/packages?query=hyprland

    https://pkgstats.archlinux.de/packages?query=sway

I last committed anything meaningful to to sway or wlroots in 2020 and I officially handed off maintenance, so it's hardly "my project" either.

Finally, I didn't actually call this project a "dark web underground" whatever, I was referencing this:

Since there is some confusion about this, I never surmised that Hyprland was some kind of obscure "dark web" project. Instead I compared the discourse around Hyprland (and connections to it via Brodie, Lunduke, etc)[0] to the "Intellectual dark web" concept, which I cited in a follow up to clarify:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_dark_web

Happy to debate the applicability of this comparison but not really to debate something I didn't say re: "dark web"

"sway has been around for 4x longer", "Hyprland's growing faster"

Does not support the argument that Hyprland is more popular than Sway

"many people have sway installed and dont use it, the longer it's there the more there are"

No evidence to support or quantify this assumption

      "opt-in arch pkg-stats"

Same bias applies to the Hyprland stats and balances out

      "8% is not 'dark web'"

Still misinterpreting my comment on the "intellectual dark web"

        Intellectual dark web
The intellectual dark web (IDW) is a term used to describe a loose affiliation of academics and social commentators who oppose the perceived influence of left wing–associated identity politics and political correctness in higher education and mass media. Individuals and publications associated with the term reject what they view as authoritarianism and ostracism within mainstream progressive movements in Western countries. This includes opposition to deplatforming, boycotts, and online shaming, which are seen as threats to freedom of speech. Those who have been labelled as being part of the IDW include both liberals and conservatives. The validity of the term is contested by some it has been applied to because of the range of beliefs it encompasses. The term "intellectual dark web" was coined by mathematician and financial executive Eric Weinstein and popularized by New York Times opinion editor Bari Weiss. It has been used to refer to various academics and social commentators who express concerns over the perceived excesses of left-wing identity politics. According to Weiss, Weinstein stated that when he coined the term he was "half...

@drewdevault There has to be a rule somewhere that people aren't allowed to claim their thing is "growing faster" without getting linked to https://xkcd.com/1102/
