kaia (kaia@brotka.st)'s status on Thursday, 25-Jul-2024 07:03:27 JST kaia listening to the finance podcasts where people struggle helps me a lot to get a perspective. to understand that growing up poor conditions you to stay poor due to decisions you make.
tbf I never had to think much about money before growing up very sheltered from reality.- on-lain ✔ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ likes this.

kaia (kaia@brotka.st)'s status on Thursday, 25-Jul-2024 07:11:36 JST kaia @lain it definitely has a genetic component.
people with high neuroticism, who experience anxiety a lot, might be more inclined to invest due to a general negative outlook in life. or they are extremely high in neuroticism and might push it away as something too difficult to think about. or very low in neuroticism thinking it will work out fine.
also conscientious comes into play: people more strict with themselves will be stricter with money. maybe because they experienced past adversity.on-lain ✔ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ likes this. -

whiteline (whiteline@shitposter.world)'s status on Thursday, 25-Jul-2024 07:11:42 JST whiteline @kaia i grew up welfare poor even though my mom was an academic, and i'm poor as a church rat as an adult due to various personal problems in combination with that
an existence where you have enough money to like, invest it instead of just buying necessities or saving up for specific concrete things is very abstract and remote for mekaia and on-lain ✔ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ like this. -

I know it's a show and played for views, but i know some of these type in IRL real life, as well as their mirror images (who want to buy a house no matter what because that's what you do in swabia) kaia likes this. -

The little money I had was my grand parents who opened a laposte account and put some monthly and I should have been able to use it when I would have turned 18yo, my parents took everything on it.kaia likes this. -

oof doesn't help when you have Swabian parents who go "why don't you just buy a house? we could buy a house, but we worked very hard! and you make 90k together!...."on-lain ✔ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ likes this. -
