@hj @evamik I've heard people mention that they want to get a diagnosis to know themself better in the past. I worry that line of thinking reifies psychiatry tho. Like to say one masks *because* of autism I think misses the mark. Autism consists in a set of symptoms which are often co-occurring. It itself isn't a cause, just a label. One masks because of social pressures, not autism.
And after a diagnosis, you're the same person. Nothing internal has changed. I feel whatever utility could be gotten on an introspective front, it is already there to be seized. Whether the label of autism is attached to it, whether by you or some authoritarian system, i don't see how it changes anything personally.
