My wife told me about an app that will alert people to food that is about to be thrown away from restaurants and stores. For a little money, you can claim the food before then.

I started to wonder why do that?

Can't we just skip the middle man and just donate the food to the those who need it most?

Then I remembered that we live in a Capitalist society where making money from food scraps would be better than just looking out for your fellow human.
