     People keep mumbling “Why’d it take Biden so long to decide?” And I keep thinking that waiting until after the RNC Convention might not have been an accident.

     Yup, it was not the dropping out but the Harris endorsement effort that was the Thing. Heaven knows what work that took behind the scenes. This intra-party fight that could have split the whole anti-MAGA coalition, and all signs say instead that yesterday managed to unify most of it in a matter of hours. That did not happen by accident.

     I subscribe to that theory, somewhere between rope-a-dope and booby trap. On what time scale, I don’t know — I suspect a week or two, not hours, not months — but really seems like that was the tactical principle.
