     it's really funny every time i get into a new topic and go read recent research papers about it, because between half and two thirds are things i don't understand, but then there's always a not insignificant number of them that are something like "hey guys, look, i grew algae in off-the-shelf plant fertilizer instead of F/2 solution and it worked fine" because even though it has surely been done, perhaps even regularly in classrooms, nobody ever bothered to publish a paper saying so until 2022
