    I've just created a Google Drive-based tool for enabling students to appreciate each other's class participation in a collaborative way. Totally untested, so I have no idea how it might fly. I'd love your feedback! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1jmLi7jmYPrmipao7wYA1fDEeTI5rwzeV

      Honestly it is based on what they do in my elementary schooler's class!

      @ntnsndr I think that's a great idea. Students tend to like these things, especially if they're low friction.

      I'm hoping to work through these challenges with the students!

      @ntnsndr

      Was thinking of these as I went through the ReadMe, so glad to see them there:

      “Kudos distribution may disproportionately reward or harm a certain students
      Kudos distribution may reflect conscious or unconscious biases
      Should perhaps disincentivize excessive concentration of distribution
      May encourage perverse incentives, e.g., crowd-pleasing over intellectual honesty”

      Keen to hear how you go in addressing these.

      @ntnsndr reminds me of an old system (though more groupwork than class participation) developed at my institution but used less and less - https://sparkplus.com.au/using-sparkplus.php - from memory, a key component (picking up from Ostrom's commons management principles) was getting students to specify the participation criteria at the outset - like writing a constitution for the group
