I'm glad those "Mass Deportation Now!" signs have made an impact. Many people are talking about it. But, I keep hearing a glaring error in the response.
I hear: "immigration is part of who we are" Yes, but this isn't about "immigration" -- This is about *deportation* in order to deport someone they need to already be here.
This is about deporting Americans. Which Americans? "Masses" of them. "Oh you known the ones" they might say. 1/

Let's deconstruct the sign word by word.
"Mass"
Huge numbers. Not selective. There are not "masses" of recent immigrants in the country. There are masses of undocumented Americans and other non-citizens. There are also masses of non-Christians, & non-whites.
"Deportation"
To forcibly remove. Combined with mass this means systematic violence.
"Now"
No chance of due process. Even though the constitution protects all PEOPLE not just citizens.

A call for mass deportation goes beyond any questions about the border and refugees. This is a call to re-shape the population of the entire country. It's madness.

Definitely some of the most overtly fascist and horrifying language I’ve seen used officially. It’s not a dog whistle it’s a foghorn.
