The best thing I can tell you is that 2020 was a winning campaign, and 2016 was a losing campaign. Biden hasn't been able to run a 2020 campaign because his credibility on "stopping the fascism, reigning in the police, stopping the forever wars, getting Trump" which was the core of his last campaign - is pretty much shot.
I have no idea if Harris is willing to admit that and say "we're doing what Joe promised but unlike him, I will deliver." She has to admit he didn't get it done.

If you run THIS 2016-esque campaign with a different face? You'll still lose. Bougie liberal powerbrokers have a REAL DAMN hard time admitting that the wonky technocrat shit that means a lot to them isn't super relevant in the electorate. They also have a real hard time ditching their own baggage because it means you admit to mistakes; which isn't something they do well.
You can't just be "Biden but I can talk normal." You need to reject his DEEPLY UNPOPULAR presidency. Will they? No damn clue

I know people in this party and right now it's very hard to even get them to ADMIT that Biden was losing this election long before he went on TV and started talking like the worst mumble rapper in history.
The numbers don't seem to phase them.
2020 was a winning campaign, and it would win again if you had a credible person promising those same things - but to be CREDIBLE, Harris (and it will be Harris) has to admit Biden didn't do it and say "but I'm not him."
That's not how Dems roll.

Again, the reality is that Biden's administration is DEEPLY unpopular, he did not stop the fascists, he did not reign in police violence, and the genocide in Gaza is a stone around his neck for a candidate who promised to "end the forever war." Dem policy guys don't see Gaza as a "forever war" but the base absolutely does. Furthermore, SCOTUS reform is pretty much a given in THIS race - and nobody believes the guy who refused to do anything about it until now when we all saw this play coming.

So turning this around, starts with admitting all of that. And then saying "but Imma do better. I'm not that man. That man made a lot of mistakes and I was just stuck in the passenger seat trying to grin and bear it."
I do not have a fucking CLUE if that level of introspection even EXISTS in the modern Dem Party. I really don't know.

Whether Harris can actually deliver on those promises or not, has almost no bearing on the actual election - she has to say it, and she has to say it credibly, and to do that CREDIBLY, she's going to have to admit that Biden blew it.
This party is not in the "admitting Biden blew it" business. They're in the "okay but let's talk about how we got gas prices down 5 cents last July" business. And nobody is hearing that shit this time because this is existential terror moments.

One thing I can say is that Harris has her own supporters inside the party, and she's actually a LOT more friendly with both Pelosi's people and Obama's people than Biden was. Remember, Joe started out 2020 in like 7th position from the poll. There were no A-list apparatchiks lining up to work for him. So purging the Bidenists (and yes, such a thing does exist now, being president will do that) would be easy enough for Harris because she can draw on talent from Pelosi and Obama who are popular.

Will she? No clue. But like I can't stress this enough... you want to win from here? You need to admit that Joe Biden's administration is deeply unpopular for valid reasons, run back his 2020 campaign, and have people credibly believe you when you say "okay but we're gonna do better and get all that shit done this time; we'll stop the nazis, reform the court, end the genocide, and leash the murderpigs; plus we have social programs to help victims of capitalism."
That wins. 2016 shit don't.

Color me a bit skeptical that Copmala will somehow leave the neoliberal/centrist pigpen set up by the Democrat establishment and go full Sanders if Biden does leave. There's still waaaaay too much of Obama's triangulation strategy in her. Also, what happens if she decides to go Left, but the donors and ConservaDems revolt?
At least there is a chance she does see the light.
Won't change my plans to vote for De la Cruz/PSL, with Stein/Greens as backup.
