lampshader (wizardmanperson@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 18-Jul-2024 23:41:20 JST lampshader @sickburnbro btw way, what would you consider a good read on the Spanish CW? I ordered Mine were of trouble, but does that cover the history of it or just the conflict from the authors perspective as a fighter? -

lampshader (wizardmanperson@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 19-Jul-2024 00:14:53 JST lampshader @sickburnbro political I guess.I have a superficial grasp on it, and would like to understand better the parallels of how their institutions were taken, and what led to their dissidents rising up.
The imagery of priest being murdered and nuns being raped and desecrated.
Also, what parts do you think are more interesting? You seem to understand quite a lot -

Bread up, Bro (sickburnbro@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 19-Jul-2024 00:14:53 JST Bread up, Bro @wizardmanperson I find the combat portion of the war less interesting, though there were some pretty dramatic moments, the politics of conservatives and how near they got to losing it all is what really resonates with me. -

Bread up, Bro (sickburnbro@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 19-Jul-2024 00:16:01 JST Bread up, Bro @wizardmanperson I've seen Picasso's Guernica in person and I think that maybe impressed a lot on me. It's huge, absolutely huge. It kind of gives you the impression of being immersed in the battlefield. -

Bread up, Bro (sickburnbro@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 19-Jul-2024 00:31:31 JST Bread up, Bro @wizardmanperson I want to think on what is the best book and why. I think there are a lot of niche books which serve as insights into different areas and a lot of the sweeping books are libtarded. -

(robert_edwardly@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 19-Jul-2024 00:54:38 JST :njp:Robert_Edwardly :windmill_of_friendship: ?? @yockeypuck @sickburnbro @wizardmanperson The Spanish Civil War by High Thomas was really good actually. It's a "mainstream history" but old enough that it gives you both compelling narrative and hard facts. -

yockeypuck (yockeypuck@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 19-Jul-2024 00:54:39 JST yockeypuck @sickburnbro @wizardmanperson Orwell's Homage to Catalonia is actually good. Antelope Hill put out Spain: 1923 - 1948 a few years ago which is a bit dry and propagandistic but full of interesting facts.
