I'm looking at moving my Nextcloud and Matrix servers to my home network.
Folks with servers on your home network: any suggestions of guides you found helpful, or machines or storage solutions you recommend (or advise against)?

@josh You can take any SBC but there are many cons : no real upstream kernel (most of the times), bootloader complexity, and all. Or you can go and buy a used nuc or any tiny pc from ebay. More or less the same price as any other SBC but way better performances and way easier to setup and maintain.
@josh Avoid server hardware, it's noisy and uses a lot of power. Desktop PC fans are best for silence, laptops or NUCs for power efficiency (and built-in battery for the former).
Personally I use a laptop motherboard with a desktop fan strapped to it (at minimum speed), but I wouldn't recommend it ^^'
