    ok, idk if there's a #rowing situation here at mastodon, but THIS IS WILD and TERRIBLE news.

    a competitive rowing sprint is always 2000 meters. this has been the standard for more than a hundred years, across all levels of the sport.

    this completely changes the event. this is stupid. this is not the most important or pressing problem in the world but I am shocked. wtf, capitalism?
