punklawyer@bmacDonald94 I didn't read Thomas Paine until I'd been a lawyer for around 6 years and took a break in '93 around 6 months to move from California to Oregon and take the Oregon bar. I was so embarrassed when I read his powerful and inspiring words, that explained why tyrants had no legitimacy and the government is only legitimate when it rules with the consent of the governed. I have benefited a great deal from what I learned in *The Crisis* and *The Rights of Man.*.
