don't get me wrong, every artist has an archive of work that they can and should get money from. this would qualify as "passive income" since the work existed for years and anything sold from it would be profit for the artist.
however...
the intentions behind those years of production were usually not about shotgun blasting loads of shit onto the market all at once in the hopes of "capturing sales" or "80/20" or other inane jargon.
people rant about AI destroying artists' livelihoods when these mofos were well into it long before AI came along.
AI in the past was just cheap labor dished out to desperate people in disadvantaged parts of the world. (Fiverr - i'm looking at you!)
