   CRC checksum is not a cryptographic hash function. It is easy to add a few bytes of garbage at the end of a file so that the CRC of the entire file becomes a desired value.

   But did you need to do that in the linker? Yes.

     @gnutools Hmm, I think GNU gold needs some more optimization.
     
     Or maybe not, as linking takes a few seconds at most unless you're trying to link bloated garbage.
