@Fiddle @aliss It does come with spyware packages built in and apparently a bunch of security options have to be enabled through a terrible GUI, not to mention mac's are generally terrible hardware nowadays. But at least it's Unix, I guess.

@Fiddle @aliss a. Well there is a documented history of Apple collecting probably personally identifiable telemetry data but whatever. I say apparently for the 2nd part, because I've never actually configured Mac os before, but it wouldn't surprise me if their UI design was total ass.
b. Yes it's arm and it's very powerful but you'd be retarded not to think they're probably practicing planned obsolescence and other bits of horseshit because it's apple and they have a history of harming older products to squeeze money out of people. Grounds for giving Cook a sloppy toppy.

@Fiddle @aliss To be fair I should definitely have said "apple is a generally terrible company" rather than blaming the hardware. Fuck me.

@Fiddle @aliss macOS is definitely not bloat free last I checked the download for it whilst installing was like 10 or 20 gb, I guess you mean there's nothing overwhelming on the desktop. I don't know anything about icloud integration because I've never used macOS with it, so can't comment on that. I believe most games don't work on macOS (I think Linux is getting the upper hand with valve games) but that's not a worry if you just use it like a true normie I guess, there's also some issue with software meant for even just a few versions back of macOS not working on modern macOS. Least the UIs the user will see the most can be used by babies because of how dumbed down they are.

@kirby @aliss
i dont deny they're an awful company and that the repairability is awful BUT macos is probably the most streamlined, bugfree and bloatfree mainstream OS that doesn't require occasional thinkering with the terminal unlike any of the linux distros. It also has great software support. As far as configuration goes, you can use it without their account but if you do use it with iCloud its integration is actually pretty well done, the seamless transition from phone to mac is amazing. Unlike winblows it all fucking works and isn't eating 3 billion resources in the background to do anything.

@kirby @aliss i use my mac for work, but it can run games and run them well with whisky (wrapper for wine + apple's GPTK). It's definitely not bloated compared to windows, ignoring installation size, i dont have fucking ads in my search bar. The UI complexity is on par with Gnome 2 - ie its good enough to get out of the way so i can get shit done

@Fiddle @aliss well, at least games are somewhat playable on macos. Though id imagine it suck not having native binaries for games that even have native builds for Linux. Oh well, trade offs because shitty company

who is even making native linux games anymore with proton being a thing? lmao, also more and more devs are making native macos ports for games. shit like factorio, starsector and rimworld already have native macos ports. GPTK made porting piss easy
