   Vinyl is a dumb expensive format for annoying hipsters and is only popular because it's cheap to make and sells for more than a CD. People are convinced that analog has """""warmth""""" and that vinyl has any actual merit aside from being massively profitable for the publishers churning them out and flooding the market

     @ic7@frogs.lgbt the people buying modern pop music releases on vinyl at walmart are not doing it because of some alleged sound quality benefit, but instead because it's one of the last vestiges of media having any kind of physical tangibility, in a world where things getting deleted from spotify is a real threat. half (literally, iirc) of the people buying it don't even have the means to play it
