@Gaelan yeah im aware. Labour's been pushing the "we're here to heal divides" stance throughout the election cycle. Will be interesting to see what real action comes out from it.

@siege @Gaelan do they try to find a compromise between people who want to exist and people who don't want them to exist? Maybe we'll be allowed to exist in the shadows...

@StrangeNoises @Gaelan no, its an impossibility to square the circle.

the anti-trans groups have always tried to mask their extremist positions in "just protecting womens rights" while demanding complete removal of trans rights, so the correct political response for any progressive party (which needs to move this avenue of attack off the field for future elections) is to act on face value and show that you are actually protecting womens rights while progressing movement on improving trans rights and healthcare.

@siege @Gaelan i know it's an impossibiilty ;-) my "exist in the shadows" wasn't intended as an acceptable outcome...

More to the point, I know it's an impossibility, you know it's an impossibility, but do *they* know it's an impossibility?

@StrangeNoises @Gaelan absolutely, what i mean is, Labour's best route is that there is tons of pathways to be found if you accept the anti-trans groups false pretense they put out to the media. Since trans rights and womens rights arent actually in any material conflict the compromise is actually very straightforward.

@StrangeNoises @Gaelan a recent example was Labour suggesting JKR could meet with them and they'd happily go over with her why the Equality Act as it stands doesnt pose a risk to womens rights - which lead to her refusing, demanding they meet with anti-trans lobby groups and then going scorched earth and telling people to vote Communist Party.
