😒"is it okay"?!?!? I'm sus of anyone tipping those who are already getting paid.
Unless I'm rich, that'll never happen. EVER.
It's not my responsibility. It's your employers.🙄🤦♂️ https://mstdn.ca/@cbc_top_stories/112744165945586455

@Jerry Nah, people that work inside restaurants behind a counter shouldn't be on tipping wages. That's different. Waiters, servers, delivery drivers get tips.
@BeAware In Massachusetts the minimum wage is $15/hour, but for tipped workers, it's only $6.75/hour. At least here, they need the tips. So, I tip.
Unsure though if counter staff are considered tipped workers or not. It's all confusing and ridiculous.
But, I wish they were paid a living wage and tipping was disallowed, as it is done in Japan. I hate the idea of having to tip people.
@pixelworld_ai That's what we're discussing no? There's no "counter" if you have a waiter/server/delivery driver.🤷♂️
@BeAware I'm perfectly fine tipping restaurant servers but I do it in cash, my problem is with retail shops that spin the ipad around when all they did was scan the product and put it in a bag. They won't get a tip from me lol
@Jerry yep! No point in tipping someone whose already getting paid.🤷♂️
Especially as I'm on disability income which is fixed.
@BeAware Wasn't sure. So, you do tip waiters, servers, and delivery drivers, just not counter workers?
@BeAware This may be unpopular, but places like that, or fast food get no tips from me at the counter. Now if I do something like a doordash/instacart/or pre pandemic (we are high risk and don't go in to eat these days) at a sit down restaurant....I tip I still tip the later in cases someone runs it out to the car. I do make exceptions on others in cases where someone goes above and beyond, something crazy happened, etc.
@ppb1701 "counter" implies in-store, non-server/waitress. 🤷♂️
@BeAware Exactly. They are paid to take order/possibly fixing and bagging the food, and setting on counter or handing it directly thru drive thru window. I forget where but my wife came across an article where most of those places that prompt tip actually none of that goes to anyone but the business itself or the processor. But I can't find it right off as she sent it to me 3-4 months ago or more.
