     true that. I used to say both parties looked the same from my distant PoV, and now they look quite different indeed: there's right, and there's far right. cynically, I'd guess it's probably just part of their choreography. there are plenty of dances in which a pair separates briefly, to rejoin later.

     40 years ago they were functionally the same, but not anymore. Since then, the Republicans have changed catastrophically.
