     @mckra1g Haha! She is quite awesome, I confess. FYI, joy and I wrote the original (much longer) version of this together. But at the time, we were calling them “emo-progs.” I later changed it because I didn’t want to suggest emotions were bad.

     OMG 100% THIS.

     Purity culture weakens from within. Everything is math. Everything. Building movements and societies is incumbent upon ratios of engagement, dispersion and representation. Purists nibble at the foundations of a structure and then wonder why it collapses. They’re the termites of democracy.

     @shoq I got to meet her at the Chicago Humanities Festival. She’s electric! Whip smart, kind, funny and indefatigable. She went over her allotted time to sign each and every one of the books/snap a picture with all of the people who had waited to see her.

     @mckra1g Joy and I have been good friends since I first helped spread the word about her Miami Herald columns in 2009. We don’t always agree on every issue, but on this one, we are completely in sync. I have always maintained that she is among the most talented US domestic politics analysts working today. Even when being entertaining AF.
