People sharing computers with each other is an incomprehensible concept to me. I hate people looking through my shit unless I'm guiding them through my PC.

That's what user accounts were made for. I wish that it were easier to make just one really powerful computer with a bunch of smaller workstations. Like a fuck-you huge powerful Xen hypervisor with a bunch of thin clients running virtualized sessions with shared storage that just do everything over the network. 21st century mainframe in the 1980s style.
I HATE moving files between computers. Rsync is great and all but I want my user to be my user, no matter what workstation I'm using.

@tyler plan 9 seems to do that perfectly. But it's kind of deadish.

I know, that, and InfernoOS. But it's the dang-old software that P9 doesn't support that makes the computer useful to me and the family.
I'm not spending every waking moment for the next 20 years porting every piece of software I want to use to P9 C.

@kirby And it wouldn't be a personal computer anymore!
