@transflowerwitch My mother used to read 'horror' and would ask me to sleep with her when she did. Things did not go well for me. Every time I would start to go to sleep, her gasps, and sounds of shock would wake me up and she did not even realize how noisy she was.
I remember Boys From Brazil and The Other were particularly noise inducing and that there was a huge shock in each novel half way or near the end, yet when they made the movie of each book, the 'huge plot twist' that MADE the book was totally spoiled by being included in the promo for the movie?!!??? so well guess I saved $15 bucks there. Idiots. So concerned to make the promo tantalizing they ruin the movie going experience totally.

And please no Stephen King recommendations. I used to read his stuff in the past but honestly a lot of it is either fucked up or just terrible writing.
